Other
Services
Sonography
Sonography (ultrasound)
uses sound waves to create a picture of a pregnancy.
Ultrasound examinations can more accurately determine gestational
age or size of the pregnancy. We recommend a sonogram for those
patients who are unaware of the date of their last menstrual period.
The fee is $85. If you choose to have an abortion, the fee will
be deducted from the surgical fee.
GYN Clinic
The gynecology
appointment includes a gyn exam, PAP smear, breast exam, lab work
and urinalysis. Contraceptive options are discussed with a counselor.
The fee is $110.
STD Screening
Hillcrest's comprehensive STD screening includes
testing for HIV, GC, Chlamydia and syphilis. The fee is $150.
DMPA
DMPA, also known
as the birth control shot, is a hormonal method of birth
control. An injection is given every 3 months. It is 99% effective
in preventing pregnancy. The fee for DMPA is $70.
IUD
IUD stands for
intrauterine device. The copper IUD is a very convenient, highly
effective, reversible form of contraception. The IUD is indicated
for 10 years of use, but may be removed at any time by a health
care professional. The fee is $600.
Emergency
Contraception
Emergency contraception
is popularly known as the morning after pill. The consistent
use of a contraceptive before sex is the best way to protect yourself
from an unwanted pregnancy. If you have had unprotected intercourse
in the past 72 hours and you are certain that you do not desire
to be pregnant, you may want to consider using Emergency Contraception
Pills. The fee is $50.
Counseling
Services
Hillcrest offers
a wide range of counseling services available at no charge. Crisis
counseling is offered to women who have had a positive pregnancy
test and would like to discuss the alternatives to an unplanned
pregnancy. Extensive referrals are available for adoption services,
prenatal care, second trimester abortions and social services. Friends
and relatives who accompany an abortion patient may also meet with
a counselor to gain knowledge about the procedure and how they may
assist the patient during her recovery.
Community
Outreach
Our Community
Educator is available to facilitate small or large community groups
discussing such topics as teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted
diseases, abortion, birth control and other women's issues. Audio-visual
and resource materials are available through the Community Educator's
office.
