Services
Hillcrest
Clinic was established initially in the Washington, D.C. area in
May 1971. It was one of the first pregnancy termination centers
and evolved out of a growing need in the community for abortion
services. The Clinic has grown tremendously over the years in staff,
physical facility and service.
From the outset,
Hillcrest has had three main objectives. The first objective has
been to develop community outreach programs and educational services
in the field of reproductive health care and related services with
emphasis not only on professionals but also encompassing the community-at-large.
The second objective has been to provide pregnancy termination and
birth control services at a cost that women in the community can
reasonably afford. The third, and most important objective, has
been to provide an out-patient clinic with medical, nursing, counseling
and laboratory personnel specialized in assisting patients who are
faced with the problem of unwanted pregnancies in an atmosphere
of understanding and respect, and with strict confidentiality.
